Europe          South Africa          Iceland          England

The largest island in the world and a continent in its own right,  Australia is the sixth largest country in the world.  Australia has the lowest population density in the world – only two people per square kilometer – with close to 20 million inhabitants.

Spending Christmas at the beach or skiing in August may seem strange, but Australia’s seasons are the opposite of the northern hemisphere – summer officially starts in December and winter in June.  But even in winter, iE-USA students will enjoy blue skies and warm, bright days.

Bustling, modern cities like Melbourne and Sydney are a backdrop to endless beaches (over 7,000), and tropical rainforests and the mountains of Tasmania add to the beauty of this island continent.

The Australian people are a friendly, freedom-loving people who are happy to open their homes to young people from far away places.

The High School Program

iE_USA works with an Australian partner organization, recommended to us by the ministry of education and the Australian association of high school principals.  In close cooperation, we offer students from around the world the opportunity to live with a “typical” Australian family and attend an Australian day school.

Host Families

Host families who volunteer to take a guest student into their homes are visited and interviewed by our partner to assure that they meet the iE-USA quality standards.  In addition, all prospective families are given a police check to assure the safety and well being of our students.

Schools in southeastern Australia

The schools that our students attend are located in and near metropolitan areas like Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Canberra.  The school year is divided into quarters or so-called “terms” and the school year begins in January and ends in December.  Our students can start the year in Australia in January, or in the middle of the school year in July as well.

Public or Private High Schools

iE-USA students can choose between public schools and privately operated high schools.  We work closely with our Australian partner to offer our students the very best program for each individual student.
